Fuck Yeah Okkervil River
meandthemagicponies:

Titled ‘I am Very Ponies’. Based on William Schaffs’ original artwork for the Okkervil River album ‘I am Very Far’.
I drew up the original idea for this after seeing Okkervil River at the Forum in, I think it was October? But holy goats, that was such an experience, more than a gig, have not felt that elevated in a while, doubt I really will ever again. For the backdrop they had the two massive dogs in either side, and then about halfway through their set the red middle part appeared. There was a little bit of a creepy KKK costume feel to a lot of the shapes that I couldn’t shake, but it was oddly alluring as I felt there was so much in there, it was beautiful. So of course I went and did a print of it.
I’ve printed about 10 of these, only a handful are any good, all of them have blemishes. Design wise I’m over the moon how they turned out. Execution needs a lot of work. But it’s a start. Not sure I’ll print them again in a while, if I do I might try some other colours. There is one or two I want to try change with water colour, so I’ll see how that goes and put them up here too.
But have I said I’m really proud of the design? I didn’t think changing the dogs/wolves/canine of choice would work, but it totally did.
(There’s about three I’d be happy to post off to people if anyone is interested [I think their blemishes add goodness]. Freebies. Buzz me.)
